Brennan Manning writes:
"Rationalization begins with a look in the mirror. We rely on the stylish disquise that has made us look good or at least look away from our true self. Self deception mortgages our sinfulness and prevents us from seeing ourselves as we really are-- Ragamuffins."
We are strangers to ourselfs, so how we treat ourselves should reflect the way we treat one another. If you have a full length mirror in your house, stand in front of it naked. As you do inspect all the little nuances, bumps, bruises, scares, and beauty that make up you. The real you with nothing to hide behind but your very being.
Then introduce yourself to yourself. If you can make yourself no longer be a stranger to yourself then you will have that much more of an easier time greeting strangers.
