I had just walked outside trying to determine if I should turn right or left, when Shawn pulled up in his Charger. Because of its throaty Mopar engine, I feel like I already knew the man. Or at least his coming and goings. Because he lives next door, I needed to meet him. Too often we believe renters are somehow different than owners. Because they don’t invest, why should we, right? Well not today. Shawn was wearing a Dodgers jersey which made it easier for me to start a conversation. It turns out he knows a lot more about sports than me. Being an ex-baller who did time on the European courts, the blood of this young man flows with a love and passion of an athlete. As such, he has set his sights on becoming a sports concierge – that person who connects athletes to the right people and places when they come into Los Angeles. Who knows, he might one day connect me with some courtside seats to see the Lakers. |
Learning this about his brand, it was no surprise Shawn wanted my new KNOWvember card (only one day old) so he could take up the challenge himself. “There’s no point in believing in a dream if you’re not going to do anything about it.”
So true. Shawn lives this out in his heart, in his dreams and even in his job helping others get off the street and into homes, and into jobs that they have only dream of. It’s good to have neighbors like this to remind me never to give up on what God has given me.
